Accurate Australia launches the Accurate Finger-Jointing Program: a revolutionary replaceable coated TCT platform built for AU/NZ hardwood performance
Brisbane, Australia — February 11, 2026 — Accurate Australia & New Zealand has launched the Accurate Finger-Jointing Program, a new finger-jointing cutterhead platform featuring replaceable coated HSS and replaceable coated TCT (carbide tipped) knives, developed to Craig Honeyman’s specification for Australian and New Zealand timber conditions.
The program addresses a long-standing constraint faced by many local timber operations: maintaining joint quality in dense hardwoods without the frequent head pulls, grinding load, and late-shift quality drift commonly associated with standard replaceable HSS systems.
“If HSS cannot hold the joint, you don’t have a grinding problem… but you may have a tooling platform problem,” said Craig Honeyman, Managing Director at Accurate Australia. “We built this because the Australia and New Zealand hardwood industry needed it, and nobody was making it.”
Built for joint quality, uptime, and real production conditions
Replaceable knife systems are well established, but Accurate says the breakthrough is the availability of replaceable coated TCT in a platform engineered for repeatable geometry and consistency in local conditions.
The Accurate Finger-Jointing Program is available in 250 mm and 160 mm block sizes and supports common joint sizes including 4 mm, 6 mm, and 10 mm, with knife layouts from 2+2 through to 6+6, depending on line speed and requirements. Accurate confirms that all knives supplied under the program are coated as standard.
Development driven by AU/NZ hardwood reality
According to Accurate, the program was driven by the need to maintain joint quality in dense Australian and New Zealand hardwood timbers where standard replaceable HSS knives can lose edge rapidly and push operations into frequent pulls and regrinds.
Accurate’s development effort included 6 to 8 months of design, prototyping, and refinement with a manufacturing partner to meet the accuracy requirements needed for repeatable joint geometry.
Early trial results indicate significant performance improvements
Accurate reports very positive early trial feedback from a customer running 160 mm replaceable coated TCT knives, including:
- Two shifts before changing, compared to one shift previously
- Two sharpening cycles, compared to three previously
- “Superb” finger quality, compared to a prior pattern of strong quality early in shift followed by noticeable decline later
- The customer has since ordered four additional cutterheads
Accurate notes that outcomes vary based on timber species, line speed, and pull criteria, and the company is documenting results through its Partner Programme.
Partner Programme now open, with softwood trials invited
Accurate has opened a Partner Programme to support operations that want to prove the platform on a selected position before transitioning over time at normal replacement intervals.
Accurate is also inviting two to three progressive softwood operations to participate in controlled trials to document performance in applications such as pine mouldings, GLT, and CLT, which the company believes will be disrupted by replaceable coated TCT performance.
